Claus Carstensen is a painter and installation artist educated at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1983. From 1993-2002, Carstensen was a professor at the Academy. Carstensen was an integral part of the Danish painters in the 1980s labelled ‘the young wild ones’ (inspired by their German counterpart Junge wilde). He takes a critical stand in his work, often closely connected to contemporary philosophy and literature.
